As you complete the trail, a certain highlight will be Karangahake Gorge. With a plethora of walks and tunnels you can discover the multi-layered history that exists here. It is truly one of most beautiful stretches of river in the country, its history is fascinating too as one of the busiest and most lucrative goldstrikes in the country took place here.
